mx20: ultra wide transformerless heaven
It is designed for the engineer who wants absolute signal transparency when multi-tracking with quality studio microphones.
The front layout is very simple and user friendly. The switches are all with LED illumination for easy visual status. The MX20 module will work only in the Danfield 3U Frame, and now the new r2 and r3 rack systems. The MX20 module is fully hot-swappable during operation. This is very useful in live recordings, where downtime is unwanted.
The technical performance of the design is impressive. The headroom and slew rate are in the premier league of world class pre-amplification. The frequency range is an astounding 3Hz to 700KHz and is designed to offer extremely wide signal capture. These figures are very flat within +/- 1 dB.
The Gain pot is a variable potentiometer with no steps. Overload is illuminated with a red LED. The High pass filter is 6-step precision gold plated switch, for very accurate 12dB/oct filtering. The selected frequencies are: 30-63-80-120-200-300 Hz. Phantom power is with push switch and yellow illumination. Pad and Reverse phase are with push switches and orange and green leds.
The audio performance of the mx20 system is favorably compared to the better known brands of high performance mic. preamp rack systems on the market.
