The Danfield 716A is a modular mono Compressor/Expander/Gate system. It contains a very high quality VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier) design that is coupled with powerful balanced In/Out circuitry.
The servo circuit that detects the program material contains an extremely fast RMS converter that transforms PEAK periods to a matching expression of energy - eliminating the unintended 'pumping effect' from the unit.
The compressor and expander/gate work at the same time on the same VCA, which simplifies operation.
The advantage of using only one VCA is obvious - less distortion and noise.
The 716A has traditionally been fitted in an 8 module rack with a separate power supply.
