08.12.2011: Clear as crystal - the new Tim Christensen album and the MX20vpr:
The long awaited album by eminent musician Tim Christensen has been released to great acclaim, with music publications giving the album a maximum 6 star rating. And it easy to hear why.

From the very outset of the album, Tim wanted to try something new. He wanted to record in a new manner, with a new co-producer and in a new studio to create the durable songs that have come to be his trademark.
The recording studio chosen was the glorious STC Studios in Copenhagen. In business for over 30 years now, these studios reflect the desire of the owner, Svend Christiansen, to create contemporary, yet classical creative spaces for artists. Their new addition to the facility, Studio C, is a perfect example of this. The room acoustics are open yet controlled, and the equipment inventory available is an impressive blend of the vintage and modern. It is all tied together with a refurbished and revitalized MCI console, once found in legendary studios such as Criteria (Now Hit Factory).
The album was recorded and mixed by Frank Birch Pontoppidan (We see awards Mr BP., we see awards…)
Whilst in pre-production, Tim and Frank were looking around for a series of powerful mic pre-amps to record all of the guitar parts, and they ended up finding the answer right next door to the studios - and so a full set of Danfield Audio MX20vpr units were supplied by us for the duration of the albums creation. The results speak for themselves.
It's also available as a vinyl release.

22.11.2011: Clarity in the dark - The MX20vpr at the Black Diamond Concert Hall:
A performance by The Symphony Orchestra of Sjaelland was recently recorded on location at the famous Black Diamond Concert Hall in Copenhagen.

A rack of 500 series MX20vpr mic preamps were used to record the cellos, double bass and timpani sections of the orchestra, guided by the eminent sound engineering maestro Hans Neilsen, of Focus Recording fame.
"Clean, quiet and powerful but most of all - very, very musical." said Neilsen.
The recordings will also be mixed by Hans, and so we look forward to hearing the album.

15.07.2011: Release of desktop MX30-t recording channel:
An innovative new recording channel for the studio desktop has been released by Danfield Audio. The mx30-t.

It is designed for the contemporary recording facility where tabletop real estate & rack space is a premium, and there is a necessity for a high degree of tactile control of whilst tracking. It is especially suited to applications such as voice recording, ADR post sync recording and voice dubbing. Furthermore, a handy optional mic stand attachment allows the unit to be located within a recording studio - right next to the musician or the sound source.
Based upon the design of the successful MX20vpr and MX30e, the MX30-t allows the engineer to have control of all the elements needed to carry out a high end recording session without leaving the control room ‘sweet spot’. A separate Danfield Audio U500 PSU remotes the power rails and keeps the sonics of the unit stable and within the envelope of its’ high performance specification.
A bombproof construction, tactile controls, masses of headroom and power with all that sexy subtle Danish build quality built in makes the MX30-t an excellent option when looking for a high end recording channel for your control room. Price 1709 EUR (microphone stand attachment 91 EUR).
JAM Music and FX is a high end post production facility located in the panoramic ad historic port area of Copenhagen.
They requested a custom monitor controller from us and were specific in their request that it not just sound good, but that it should fit into the general aesthetic design of their contemporary studio layout.

As all the studios are named after the letters J, A and M it seemed logical to continue this theme - and so we called the custom controller the Monitor JAM and christened it as such. The units are now fitted in all of their audio facilities and provide the main monitor, near-field distribution and secondary headphone feeds of the program mixes. All units come as standard with a custom retro style remote control with a walnut wood edge finish. See more about the monitor custom - configured the way you want it to be.

10.07.2011: monitor2 package gets a performance upgrade option:
The monitor2 has developed an excellent reputation for sonic clarity and bags of headroom. Due to the work that the designers at Danfield Audio have carried out developing new summing amplification circuits, an optional upgrade package that is directly compatible for the monitor2 has been released.
The new chip set improves the headroom in the system by a further 6dB. The Signal to noise ratio is also increased by 6dB, the distortion performance is enhanced even further - and input transients are more easily suppressed.

Furthermore, as a way of shouting a big thank you! to all our monitor2 clients around the world - Danfield Audio will discount the total upgrade cost 50% - and that includes the international shipping costs as as well.
The basic monitor2 upgrade price is 90 EUR after discount. No installations costs are charged. Shipping costs will also be discounted 50% if applicable.

Engineer Vincent Delanoe knows a thing or two about great gear. Vincent is a broadcast engineering project manager at TF1, the first private french broadcaster and a former studio owner and music engineer. He comments:

"I've been astound by the sound quality, pristine sound. Compared to others, your MX20 is great. I didn't mean to buy one because I did not hear about you until Al.so in Paris lent me a unit just for bench test. And I've been hooked out. I appreciate: The transparency and dynamic, the musicality of the HPF and the +20db extra gain with no significant noise. Great stuff, European stuff. Thanks!"
12.03.2011: Danfield Audio releases custom PSUs released for your precious vintage gear.
Due to an increasing number of requests from our clients for high performance power supply solutions - Danfield Audio have released a selection of custom units designed for meeting the specific power requirements of non-Danfield Audio systems - such as for vintage microphones, recording consoles and rack equipment.

The U500 is a general purpose power module that can be used for replacement of faulty PSU's in vintage analog equipment. The smaller NS&T14 series is designed specifically for microphones that require external PSU's - such as Neumann-Telefunken systems e.g. the KM56.
The NS 69 has been designed specifically for the vintage Neumann SM69FET stereo microphone.
The good news is that everything can be customized around the basic design - including connectors, and is dependent upon the power application of the unit.
These particular units (NS69) have been built exclusively for the National broadcaster DR of Denmark.
Prices from 2950-4950 DKK per module. All custom units are sold with a 5 year warranty.
